• Greenwich BOE Chair Resigns, Local Press Takes A Swipe At Her For Being "Criticized Repeatedly By Local Democrats"

Let's hope her replacement will be strong enough to fight back against the radical equity agenda articulated by teachers union President Becky Pringle earlier this month...

    Ugh!

We just lost one of the good ones on the Greenwich Board of Education -- one of the highest vote-getters in the most recent BOE election in November 2023, as a matter of fact.

BOE Chairwoman Karen Kowalski, a Republican, resigned effective immediately, as she and her family have made the decision to leave Greenwich. She shared a brief resignation note with the Board of Education and the Town of Greenwich at large on Friday, July 19th.

Leslie Yager at the Greenwich Free Press released Kowalski's resignation letter on Saturday, and immediately used it as an opportunity to attack the outgoing Chairwoman on her record of working to protect parental rights and to improve curriculum transparency—as if those are bad things!

The article provides the democrat perspective about Kowalski, but not the conservative perspective.

Yager writes that Kowalski has been "criticized repeatedly by local Democrats" as a “culture war firebrand” and cites comments from left-wing radicals like Jonathan Perloe, a guy who wanted to keep school children in masks, and completely fell for the whole false narrative about the "science".

Then Yager highlighted Jim Finn for "taking Kowalski to task" when she appeared on Newsmax “to deride ‘the radical ideas flooding into schools’ and talked about wokeism, parents rights, book banning and the national MAGA school board agenda…”

Most parents we know LOVED that clip, and admired Kowalski for having the courage to speak out!!!

In the interview, Kowalski referenced a gender ideology video that was shown to a student who had been opted out of "gender indoctrination lessons." The video wasn't even approved for the curriculum but that didn't stop the teacher from showing it anyway.

Kowalski said in the interview, “It’s also frustrating as a member of the Board that somehow we cannot reign in our Administration to realize that this progressive, non-scientific ideology is being pushed on our children. It’s confusing.  It’s not right.  It’s inappropriate.  This is not something that should be in our school system, and it should not be pushed on our children... This [gender ideology video] was not the health program that was designed and approved by the Board.”

Yager reveals her bias in favor of democrats once again by calling out Kowalski's votes against a supersize Central Middle School, and her vote not to extend Toni Jones' contract.

But why not thank Kowalski for volunteering to take on a difficult job that few people are willing to do? Maybe throw in a comment about her professionalism and willingness to consider feedback from all members of the community? Why not reach out to conservatives for a perspective on what we liked about her?

We liked that she answered our emails.

We appreciated that she voted against a bloated building project for Central Middle School.

We were grateful that she, along with BOE member Wendy Vizzo Walsh, voted against using the Marxist concept of "equity" as a criteria for evaluating educators.

We loved how she fought back against biological boys playing in girls sports—an initiative favored by the radical teachers union that operates in the district, the Greenwich Education Association (GEA), the local chapter of the Connecticut Education Association (CEA)... which is the state chapter of National Education Association (NEA).

    Speaking Of The Teachers Union...

You've probably already seen the viral clip of the last two minutes of the wild speech delivered by Becky Pringle, President of the NEA, at this summer's conference.

Pringle's full speech offers an absolutely terrifying vision for education.

Parents should pay close attention to this agenda, especially since the NEA operates in Greenwich.

Posted to NEA on YouTube on July 4, 2024.

"We worked hard to rid ourselves of a tyrannical, deceitful, and corrupt White House," Pringle says of the former Trump Admin before she blames that "horrible season" for planting the seeds of "increased marginalization of black, brown, AAPI and indigenous communities, rising hatred toward our LGBTQ+ siblings..."

Of course that's not true, but why should the truth stop Pringle's rant?

She goes on to describe how these so-called "seeds" planted during the Trump Admin have allegedly "mushroomed into poisonous spores of a stacked Supreme Court" before she attacks recent SCOTUS decisions, including the one that she sneers gave Trump "immunity from his crimes".

Pringle wants to reclaim public education as a "common good" and the foundation of "democracy."

She further shares the Marxist vision of transforming the U.S. into a more "racially and socially just and equitable system" and promises to fight for "equitable" funding for schools and against vouchers.

She lauded the passage of the "Freedom to Read" Act in Maryland that keeps porn in schools and actually called it "essential legislation" leaving many parents to wonder exactly what is "essential" about sexualizing children in school.

She says "unyielding activism" is what helps them win.

She desperately wants to re-elect Joe Biden, and even broke out into full campaign mode, sharing excitement about DEI, student loan forgiveness, LGBTQ+ rights, abortion, and other progressive agenda items. But we're sure she'll jump on the Kamala bandwagon should she become the democratic candidate now that Joe Biden is out of the running.

"Joy is equity," preached Pringle as she described the "struggle" the NEA is undertaking.

In the end Pringle became completely unhinged—this is the viral clip—she turned into a crazed madwoman screaming about the NEA winning "all of the things" while pounding her hands on the lectern and not naming any of the actual "things".

Most of the teachers in Greenwich belong to Pringle's union, and fund the union's equity agenda by paying annual dues.

Karen Kowalski pushed back against that agenda, and for that she will be sorely missed, especially by parents who want schools depoliticized. We hope the Greenwich Republican party can find someone to fill her shoes... otherwise we know what is coming down the pike for our schools.

    MORE EQUITY.

And frankly, we think Connecticut needs less communism not more...

You give that blog (GFP) too much credit. It is not local news, but one of an opinionated local blog writer.
